Full Classes
People are discovering biology and enrollments in our classes are booming! Unfortunately, given the present state budget crisis, we are unable to offer enough sections to meet the demand. Consequently, many students discover that the classes they need to take are already full and closed to more enrollments. So, what do you do?
The Biology department generally does not keep waitlists of students trying to enter a course. Instead, we recommend that all interested students who have not been able to enroll, show up to the first class meeting. Usually, there are students who have previously enrolled in the section but no longer intend on taking the course. Any student who does not show up on the first day of the semester, may be dropped from the course by the instructor and the spot given to someone else. The exact policies by which these spots may be reassigned to new students varies with the individual instructor of the course.
