Cañada College provides students with documented disabilities academic support and reasonable accommodations as defined by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Services are provided to students with a wide range of disabilities and are determined on the basis of supporting medical, psychological or learning disability documentation. Certain requirements regarding disability documentation are necessary. Therefore, students must check with the Disability Resource Center in order to assure that they qualify. Assistance with academic accommodations such as note takers, reading or library services, alternate format text books, test proctoring and other supportive services are facilitated in the DRC. Adaptive equipment aids and sign language interpreters are also available for disabled students on a case-by-case basis. Additional services through the Health Center, Psychological Services, the Learning Center and Workability III are open to Cañada students.

To begin the process to access DSPS Services at Cañada College, please click on the link shown below and print the Student Application form. After you have completed the information on the form, please mail it to the DSPS address printed at the top. Upon receipt, you will be called and an appointment scheduled with you and the Director. At the time of your appointment, you will need to bring your disablity verification with you.

Assessment of a learning disability may be achieved by enrolling in a short course, Developmental Skills 811, in the Learning Achievement Program. Upon completion of the course and determination of eligibility, students may qualify for support services through the Disability Resource Center. Tutorial assistance in numerous subjects and courses in reading, study skills, writing and math are also offered through the LAP.

The Adaptive Physical Education Program offered by Cañada College at the off-campus Veteran's Memorial Center in Redwood City benefits many older adults with health and mobility issues. Student participation in this program is welcomed and may be arranged by contacting the telephone number listed above.
