Be aware though that there was a time when the only way you could play poker was at home with friends or family members or in a licensed land based gambling venue such as a casino that had a set aside poker room.

However, what you will now find that no matter where you happen to live anywhere in Canada is that you can now access and play absolutely any type of poker game variant you want to play via a computer, cell phone or a tablet device. You will also be able to play cash ring games or even enter poker tournaments in all of those playing environments too!

How to Play Poker

The aim of playing poker is quite simple, all players that are sat around the poker table, either in a land based poker room or online are required to take turns to pay one of two initial wagers known as a blind and a big blind. The amount of that obligatory bet that will move around the table so every player will be paying it is dependent on the stake levels of the poker table you are playing it.

In games such as Texas Hold’em for example each player will then be dealt two facing down card that only they are going to look at and then a round of betting takes place. Player can opt to fold their hand at each round of betting by the way, but by doing so they will lose any chips they have fed into the pot.

In the middle of the table there are going to be dealt out what are known as a set of community cards and those are facing upwards cards any player left in each game can make use of to finally form a five card poker hand.

The Dealer will deal out one additional card to the community cards on the three additional rounds of betting which are known as the turn, flop and river. Once the final river card is dealt out to the community cards players will then get to the showdown stage of the game and it is at that point in time players will reveal their hand.

It will be the player that has the highest ranked poker hand that will win the pot, however if more than one player has the same ranked poker hand then the pot is equally split up between those players.

Licensed and regulated Poker sites are going to operate to the very best and highest of industry standards and that above all else will ensure the games you do play are fair and you will never experience any problems getting paid out any winning you achieve either, and will of course be paid out all of your winnings in a timely fashion too.

Therefore make a point of checking the website of any Poker site you are thinking of signing up to and checking to see which, if any, licensing authority of gaming commission has issued that site with a license, and always avoid signing up to any site or app that does not have a full and much more importantly valid gaming license too.
